"Meeting needs, creating opportunities and preparing young people for the future"
Bachlaw Intensive Support Unit
Bachlaw Intensive Support Unit has been created in response to the identified needs of young people who do not fit into standard mainstream provisions and therefore is truly child centred. The aim of the service is to provide the young people placed there with a positive experience where they can be nurtured, supported to deal with their difficulties and properly prepared for the time when they move on from the placement.
The premises consist of a bungalow and a number of outbuildings set in two acres of grounds which include a wooded area and mature gardens. The unit offers placements for three young people aged between 8 and 18. Each young person is allocated their own room and en suite.
Young people being referred to this service will have demonstrated that they are unable to manage in group situations and efforts to maintain them within their family or a mainstream provision will not have been successful. The young people may exhibit challenging behaviours either through harming themselves or others and may have a history of poor or broken attachments. Bachlaw is intended to be a long term placement which can support young people through to adulthood.
